And the GU PLUS Service Leader Award Goes to… Ashley Caldwell!

Anthony Sinito

Our very own Ashley Caldwell was recently recognized for her outstanding service to our Gannon community during these challenging times of the pandemic. We were able to catch up with her to learn more about her incredible work.

Q. What specifically is the role you play in assisting kids in quarantine?

A. “I am the CARE Coordinator; I coordinate and manage the meal plans for students in isolation. I help in creating the basis of when and how resources get to the students in quarantine.”

Q. Were there any aspects or moments that stood out to you in your experiences with your involvement thus far?

A. “Having to see students making that adjustment into isolation. They have to make an abrupt shift in their schedules, lives, and have to adapt on a whim to a different form of learning in their classes. Especially with athletes, who are accustomed to exercise are now not permitted to do so for two weeks. It really does take a toll on students.”

Q. What was the award that you received recently? How do you feel about it?

A. “It was the GU PLUS Service Leader Award. I am humbled greatly by the team effort that supported this. It would not have been possible without a team and without the volunteers’ involved."

A great count of thanks goes to Father Kesicki, Kelly Bommer, Gannon Seminarian Students, the Athletics Department and the Marketing Department. They all have contributed countless hours in overall assistance to this operation.”
