External Review of GU Honors Program

Abigail Palotas

The Gannon Honors Program was recently reviewed (virtually) by Dr. Amy Lebo of Baldwin Wallace University and Dr. Craig Kaplowitz of Auburn University.

Dr. Lebo earned both her M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Oregon, also obtaining a Graduate Certificate in Women's and Gender Studies from the University of Oregon and a B.A. in Philosophy and Religion from Emory University. She works as associate dean of BW's Office of Honors and Scholars. She directs the BW Honors Program, Summer Scholars Program, Faculty Student Collaborative Research courses and grants to students to conduct research and present their findings. She also acts as the Fulbright Program Advisor and coordinates the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society.

Dr. Kaplowitz directs and serves as an instructor for the Exploratory Advising Center at Auburn University. Dr. Kaplowitz is a historian and previously worked as a college professor for 15 years, serving as director of an honors program for over ten years. He holds degrees from Wake Forest and Vanderbilt.

Both Dr. Lebo’s and Dr. Kaplowitz’s backgrounds and current work certainly make them qualified judges of the success of the Gannon Honors program in expanding and developing the minds of students.

If you did not attend the Zoom sessions with the reviewers, but would like to share your thoughts on the Honors Program, you can email them at alebo@bw.edu and cak0068@auburn.edu
