On a Walk

Fundraising Committee's Walk Fundraiser

Natalee Stinebeiser

October 3, Honor’s Fundraising Committee held their first Fundraising Walk/Run Event. The route set out was a three-mile stretch around part of Gannon’s campus and the city of Erie, starting at the Palumbo Academic Building, down to Bayfront Parkway, and circling back up to the launch spot.  The race attracted over 20 people, 3 of which ran competitively and the rest walked for fun. In the end, the event raised over $70, bringing the total amount raised so far for the year up to approximately $150. Out of those who decided to run for the prize of a crewneck sweater from the Gannon bookstore, the victor came out to be Timothy Edwards, a first-year student member of the Honors Program.

When asked why he participated, he said, “I decided to participate today because it was a nice day out, and I wanted to support the Honors Program.” The Fundraising Committee appreciates all of the overwhelming support from this semester already, and hope to see everyone continue to support future events. For those who don’t know, the purpose of the Fundraising Committee is to raise money for Junior Philippe, the student from Haiti that Gannon has been sponsoring for over a decade now. All money raised from events put on by Fundraising directly contributes to the education fund for Junior. The fundraising goal for this academic school year is $250. Be on the lookout for more events from the Fundraising Committee!
