Mr. Prianti's Comparative World Philosophy

Luke Bratton

This upcoming spring semester, Mr. Dominic Prianti will be teaching Comparative World Philosophy: The Good Life. This class will focus on teachings about living the good life. It will also discuss Eastern philosophies more than most philosophy courses. Mr. Prianti created this course six years ago to address the lack of diversity in philosophy courses as almost all philosophy courses one takes in college are Western-focused.

Mr. Prianti says “This is my favorite course to prepare for and teach, and I am really excited to have some heavy discussions and to learn more insights myself (from students and readings).” Honors students have the unique opportunity to discover a new side of philosophical study and thought. This course will allow students to reflect on their lives and read new texts they haven’t thought to read before.

Opening your mind to new schools of thought is essential to becoming a well-rounded individual and scholar. As honors students, we must always engage in new opportunities to learn all sorts of material. The writer of this article, being a philosophy major, may be a little biased; however, this class will benefit everyone and will also help students fulfill their liberal core requirements!
